You know someone. You know someone who has experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family's spirit, love, and beauty.
You know someone. I guarantee it.
I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography -- $500 worth, to be exact. Whether it is a family, child, newborn, or maternity session, large portraits for their walls, or many prints for grandma, it's in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.
Another great part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $100 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be?
The rules:
* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
* The nominee must reside in either the Cambridge/Boston area, MA, or in or around the Twin Cities, MN. Tell me who you know, what they're experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
* You must comment to this blog entry (comments are privately viewed by me), or e-mail me with the full story.
The winner will be announced on January 7th -- get nominating! I can't wait to read all of your entries!
Open your heart to someone this holiday season -- and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

Far from my usual toddler session...
This afternoon I had the pleasure of photographing this too cute couple down on the Charles River Esplanade. I don't do many 'couples' sessions, but these two make it look easy - ahh, young love. :)

November?
If I didn't know any better, I could easily believe today's photos were taken on a warm summer day. Today's lovely girls were all bright eyes and big smiles for me, such fun to photograph!

This session brought to you by Swedish Fish :)
These lovely ladies are the next-door neighbors of the piggy-back kids in the last post, and since I was in the neighborhood, we thought they deserved some camera time as well!
Starting off in the middle, the 4 year old loved the camera!
The youngest was more reluctant, but Swedish Fish brought out the smiles!
Finally, the oldest, and she did a marvelous job of containing her sisters for the sister shots.

high school senior, and his little sis
This fine fall day I photographed this lovely pair, which I've had the pleasure of doing for each of the past 3 years.
This year, for a change, we focused on the brother for his senior pictures.

new big brother, new little sister!
It was such fun watching this little guy with his baby sister. I first photographed him for his first birthday, and it was neat to see him in the big brother role.
Baby sister with her big blue eyes-
And showing me the great woodsy path in the back yard, as the thunder started rolling in.

fall colors
Today I dropped in on a friend rather out of the blue, since I am in town briefly. Barely 2 minutes in, she says she's got a great new photo location for me, so I said lets go, and we grabbed my camera, threw the kids in the car, and headed out.
Tell me, can she pick them, or what?!
Really, any location that lets two year olds run like this
and four year olds dance and skip like this
is a treasure!
These kids are just the cutest, and had such a fun nature walk.
So L, you're officially my favorite new location scout. I'll definitely be back here again! Thanks for a great fun time this afternoon, it was wonderful to see you!

cousins!
I love repeat clients. I love to see the children again, get to know them, watch them grow. Of course, if the previous session was only a week or two before, the growing is somewhat harder to perceive! I did a cousins session the other day for two families that I had first done individual shoots for one and two weeks before. Scroll down in the blog and you'll recognize the faces! Three just about three month olds and one brave six year old (plus an obliging dog) made for quite an exciting bunch!

busy neighborhood!
This weekend I photographed three young families in one neighborhood. It was my third time for the first family, who have a new baby this summer, and the first for the other neighbors. All in all, a delightful street full of kids!
First off, the new baby brother:
And the peek-a-boo big brother:
Then down the street for this cute little guy:
And finally, across the street for some girls this time!

a little something different
I interrupt the parade of beautiful babies and tots to present my kid brother and his lovely fiancée.
and one more that I just couldn't resist. This little guy was romping on the beach, but when we started to leave, we noticed him absolutely passed out on the sand. Cuteness personified.

growing family
One thing I love about photographing families is watching the families grow from year to year. I first photographed this family when the little guy was just a few weeks old, and this time, two and a half years later, he was joined by his new little sister.

vive les vacances!
What vacation to les Etats-Unis is complete without a family photo shoot? These family friends are visiting from France, and have been seeing all sides of this country, from a ranch in Montana to the shore of lake Superior, and we snuck in a photo shoot yesterday before they traveled on to New York this morning. Beaux garçons, non?
